Sex and the City

Mom has been watching our girls all summer on Sunday and Monday nights - not because we asked her to but because she is crazy in love with them and wants to spend more time with them. A nice additional benefit was us being able to have date night again.

This was our last date night before the summer ended and PB consented to see the SATC movie with me. Yay!!

I liked it a lot mostly because I miss the series. I hate that Charlotte got pregnant, but more than that, I hate that her doctor told her it happens all the time. It. Doesn't. OK????

I also realized that that narration and cheesy puns are funny in 30 minute doses but not in two hours ones.

But the clothes were great and I missed my girls so I really, really enjoyed it.

The Dark Knight

Yes, we are just getting around to seeing this movie. And yes, i loved it like everyone else in the world.

I think this is the best of the Batman movies when it comes to really probing the moral ambiguities surrounding Batman's vigilantism, but also human nature in general. When was the last time you saw a bad guy conduct a "social experiment" in real time?

Heath Ledger was great as The Joker. Personally, I don't see anything Oscar-worthy about the performance... he does a convincing crazy guy, but I don't think that takes as much skill as what he did in Brokeback Mountain or Monster's Ball.

Christian Bale was also great as Bruce Wayne, and as Batman whenever he wasn't talking. I do still prefer Michael Keaton's batman to all others. Which is something I never thought I'd say.
